September 14, 1935 - June 6, 2019
Patricia Groover (Ennis), 83, passed away at Villa Marie Claire Hospice on June 6 with her loving family by her side. Pat is predeceased by her loving husband James Groover and her brother Walter F. Ennis, Jr. and her parents Walter and Margaret Ennis. She is survived by her daughters Noreen Lape of Mechanicsburg, PA and Erin Groover of Lake Hiawatha, NJ. Pat is lovingly remembered by her son-in-law Dale Lape, Jr; her grandchildren Miranda Lape, Noah Lape, and Dylan Linfante; her brother-in-law Wally Groover; her nieces Michele Baldino, Karen Groover, Doreen Andrews, and Sharon Ennis; her nephews Thomas Ennis and Michael Ennis; and her best friend Karen Desposito. Pat was born in Jersey City on September 14, 1935. She worked at Maxwell House in Hoboken where she met the love of her life, married, and became a housewife and mother. In later years, she worked as a secretary at the Felician School for Exceptional Children – a job she loved because of the staff and students. Pat identified as Irish and took pride in all things Ireland. She was a feisty competitor at Rummikub and Canasta. She feared in recent weeks that Jeopardy, one of her favorite shows, was broken. She hated injustices and took great delight in watching Judge Judy mete out punishments. One of her favorite singers was Jackie Evancho whom she was delighted to see in concert this past February. Visitation will be held at Hennesey Heights Funeral Home, 232 Kipp Avenue, Hasbrouck Heights on June 9 from 1:00-5:00. The funeral mass will be held at Corpus Christi Church on June 10 at 10:00 followed by the burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
