Arismendy Toribio's Obituary
Arismendy Toribio, known to his close family simply as Aris, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 28, 2023, at 75, surrounded by his wife and daughters after battling lung cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Alba M. Toribio, three daughters Alba Aridia, Griselda, and Maribel, grandchildren Max, Caroline, Allison, Noelia, Matthew, and Danielle, and siblings Juan Francisco, Eugenio, Milagros, Josefina, and Domingo.
Aris will always be remembered by his family as an exceptional father, devoted husband, loving grandfather, and brother. He was a humble, hard-working man, always remembering his roots and always staying true to himself, knowing that the most important part of life is the time you spend with your loved ones. Before his retirement, he worked as a computer analyst for Getty Oil Company.
He was born in the Dominican Republic and was a huge fan of baseball, or beisbol as he used to call it in Spanish. He was a loyal fan of all Dominican players and his favorite Dominican baseball team Las Aguilas.
He loved spending summer days, sitting in the backyard with his family, listening to merengue music, enjoying the Dominican food, and having a good cerveza, especially if it was a Presidente. He was an active member of Club de Leones (Lions Club International) in the Dominican Republic and continued his community involvement by joining the club's Washington Heights division, helping and giving back to the community.
Aris was preceded in death by his parents Urbano Toribio and Ana Matilde Moran, by his sisters Altagracia, Maria Emperatriz, and Luz Antonia, and by his brothers Bienvenido and Ramon Antonio.
A memorial service will be held on August 2, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Hennessey Heights Funeral Home at 232 Kipp Ave. Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. Graveside Service will be held on August 3, 2023, at 11:45AM at George Washington Memorial Park, Forest Ave and Century Rd, Paramus, NJ.
