Dr. Cesar, PhD chemist and science teacher passed away at home on August 9th, 2014.Dr. Rodriguez received his chemistry degrees from MIT & Brandeis University. He conducted research at Brandeis on Morphine Synthesis, worked on anti-cancer novel chemicals at Princeton University, new inorganic consumer & farm compounds for former employees FMC, American Cyanamid, Shulton, AT&T and Rohm & Haas. He received patents for his discoveries and contributed to research on others. He was a fellow post doctoral scientist at the University of Minnesota where he also taught biology and chemistry. Dr. Rodriguez left full time scientific research to teach in NJ public schools and colleges where he encouraged inner city students to seek careers in math & science. He was an avid traveler who immersed himself in Chinese and Spanish culture and became fluent in Spanish and studied Mandarin. Dr. Rodriguez is survived by his three adult children, Cesar, Alejandro and Sara Rodriguez-Matos, his mother Andrea Sepulveda, brother Jorge Rodriguez, nephew Paul Rodriguez, former wife Libertad Matos and his many friends at MIT where he served as a student recruiter.
