Felicita Rodriguez's Obituary
Felicita Hernández Oyola
Born in Barrió Ceiba, Cidra Puerto Rico on March 7, 1942.
Passed away in New Port Richey, Florida on December 31, 2024.
She moved from Puerto Rico to Paterson, New Jersey early 1960, where she raised her family and worked until she retired and moved to Florida in 2013. During her final months, she was at home under hospice and family care. She past away peacefully two days after being admitted to the hospital; her heart simply gave up.
Her biggest accomplishment was raising her five daughters as a single mother; she was a true survivor and a hard worker. She was a woman of Christian faith and enjoyed worshiping and singing “coritos”. Her hobbies included watching telenovelas; playing dominoes (she enjoyed winning and hated losing); reading the Bible at the kitchen table; and listening to “musica jíbarita”. She also enjoyed cooking and was quick to prepare a meal for family, regardless of the time of day until she was unable to do so. She made the best Puerto Rican “pollito guisado”.
She was the last survivor of 12 siblings from her parents, Conrado and Maria de Los Angeles Hernandez Oyola. She is survived by her five daughters: Ivelisse, Elizabeth, Maria, Jackeline, and Migdalia; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
It was her wish to be laid to rest in New Jersey where she raised her daughters.
