Helen DiFranco's Obituary
DiFRANCO Helen (nee: Eluk), entered eternal life on October 21, 2015. She was born on August 10, 1921.
Predeceased by her husband Salvatore (Sam), her brother Steven and 3 sisters Estelle, Jean & Judy. Beloved Mother to Sal and his wife Diane, Steven, Jennie Genovese and her husband Will. Loving Grandmother to Leslie, Kelly, Sally and Jodie. Proud Great Grandmother to Christopher, Daniel and Leo with one Great Granddaughter on the way. Honorary grandchildren Melissa and Cristian. Caring Aunt to her loving niece Peggy with special affection and love for Joanne and Donna.
Helen lived in Garfield most of her life but thoroughly enjoyed living in Manahawkin from 1986 to 1998 before moving back to Garfield after Sam's death. She lived in Garfield with her daughter until 2010 then resided with much love and care in the Maywood Center in Maywood.
Being a trendsetter for her era, Helen worked full time, even inspecting hand grenades for the war efforts while raising three children and helping her husband with the family oil business, DiFranco & Son's Fuel Oil. Helen loved her husband for well over 50 years, loved her family dearly and was loved and admired by all who knew her. She was a second mother to many dear friends and always welcomed everyone into her home. She was a very strong advocate against the abuse of animals and is sorely missed by all of us. Mom you will be forever in hearts, minds and thoughts. Rest in Peace.
Special thanks and deep appreciation to the most loving and caring staff at the Maywood Home for Health and Rehabilitation. You made Mom very happy especially her last days when she needed you the most. We can never repay your kindness and we love you all. Extra special thanks to Dr. Testa for all his guidance, comforting words and endless compassion. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Visitation on Monday, October 26th, 2015 from 11am-3pm at the Hennessey Heights Funeral Home, 232 Kipp Ave. Hasbrouck Heights. There will be a prayer service at 1:30pm at the funeral home. Cremation private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Helen's name to the ASPCA or the American Diabetes Association.
