It was so sad to read this- this morning. Since the death of my mom on January 7, 2019 . I went on a search to find you and tell you she passed away! But I know you knew.
You were the best godmother anyone could ask for. I always had a Christmas gift and a story when you visited the house. You spent a lot of time on the road making justice and sharing stories that reminded us of how to live and to make it better.
I teach my students in my classroom “you don’t have to be anti-man to be pro-woman.” Godmother Jane! You are in God’s hands and nothing could be better. Join my mother Carrie on the beautiful side of this equation!
To Jane’s family. Love and God bless!
my dear friend . I always looked forward to your visits home. I was a little girl then. You would come back to Ithaca to see your parents but always took time for me. You were so much fun and always told me to be a proud woman. You taught me so many things and we always had fun. I will treasure my memories of you always rest in peace sweet friend ❤️
I remember Jane from Ithaca New York. Where my mother worked for her father Dr. Galvin. Jane and her family help me to see life for what it was and Expand my visions to an endless horizon. Jane you and your family will always have a home and place in my heart.
Jane McDougal Galvin-Lewis was a phenomenal spirit.
Smart, funny, politically astute, and generous. She was a gifted storyteller and comedian. I met Jane in the 80s, in New York. In the 90s, I produced a video about her comedy where she plays many of her remarkable and unforgettable characters. We had so much fun putting that work together.
When Jane later moved to Atlanta, were I live, I was delighted. She visited me and I visited her. As many of you know, Jane loved holidays and would send me texts acknowledging each and everyone of them. When she moved into her last apartment in Atlanta, she was so happy and I was happy for her. We talked about the church that she joined, which she felt was very supportive of her, as well as the gym that she joined.
I still remember Jane in that green Jeep, which always needed work. She's probably rolled that that thing right into heaven.
RIP Jane. I'm honored to have known you.
