Joanne P Gulizzi-Bardowell's Obituary
In Loving Memory: Joanne P. Bardowell (nee Gulizzi), 63 of Vernon, NJ passed away peacefully on Christmas day December 25, 2023 surrounded by the love of her family and friends after bravely facing metastatic brain cancer.
She was born as Joanne P. Gulizzi on March 18, 1960 in Hoboken, NJ to the late Marguerite and Joseph Gulizzi. Joanne is survived by her son, Wayne A. Bardowell, her siblings, Diane Dikun and her husband Jordan Dikun of Ridgewood, her brother Michael Gulizzi of Montvale, and her sister Colleen Rediger and her husband Mark Rediger of Hudson, Fl. Joanne is also survived by her many close cousins, nieces and nephews, aunts and countless friends. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved son, family, friends, and her 3 cats Ginger, Tiger Lily, and Nemo.
Joanne attended Corpus Christi Elementary School and Hasbrouck Heights High School and also received a Child Development Associate Degree. Joanne was most recently a special education teacher’s aide at Rolling Hills Primary School in Vernon. Prior to that, for more than 25 years, she was a passionate nursey school teacher. She loved working with children helping her students develop social and learning skills.
Joanne’s final wish was to have her body donated for the advancement of medical science, research, and education (Anatomy Gifts Registry), which has played a vital role in promoting excellence for patient-centered advancements in medicine.
A private Cremation, Memorial Service and a Celebration of Life have been planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wayne A. Bardowell Trust for his independent living.
Joanne will be remembered as a devoted mother, loving family member, cherished friend and an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her soul rest in peace and may her memory continue to be a source of comfort to those who mourn her.
