Wow, so sad that he is gone. Growing up in Ann Arbor, MI we often had the treasured opportunity to see the Art Ensemble of Chicago perform. Joseph Jarman, in particular, has been one of my very top musical heros since I was like 13. I was thrilled to finally meet him once, at the same event when I first met you, Debra Manzella, and a few other musicians who all became (or already were) important to me in various ways. Mr. Jarman was gracious and polite, patient with my gushing adoration LOL. I am so lucky to have been exposed to his mind blowingly innovative and powerful music. His influence is a huge part of who I am, even now. Damn, I'm lucky. He will be missed so strongly. But his energy and spirit live on in so many of us.
