Joseph Lerch's Obituary
Joseph Lerch, Age 92, of Mahwah died peacefully on Tuesday December 15, 2020. He had previously lived in NYC and Little Ferry, NJ before moving to his current residence in Mahwah, New Jersey.
Joseph was born in Romania and grew up in West Germany. He immigrated to the United States with the help of the Catholic Charities in 1957. He settled in NYC along with his loving wife Pauline and their three children, Wolfgang, Dieter, and Alexander. He came with no money, but the American dream of providing and making a better life for his family.
Joseph and his family moved to Little Ferry in 1962 where he founded his company, Merit Machine Company. Merit was a very successful company who manufactured specialized parts for the bakery industry.
Joseph leaves behind his five children, Wolfgang (wife Maureen), Dieter (wife Elaine), Alexander (wife Carol), Paul (wife Deborah), and Christopher. He was a loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his loving wife Pauline.
There will be a private service for family only with Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Saturday December 18, 2020 at 10:30 AM. Burial to follow at Maryrest Cemetery.
