Josephine Steinway's Obituary
Josephine Steinway died on October 18, 2019 in Englewood, NJ at the age of 94. She was born in Perry, OK on April 22, 1925 to Clarence and Chrystal (Williams) Seitz. She attended Oklahoma State University. She married Shelby Taylor and after World War II moved to the New York City area. She taught ballroom dancing and appeared on the Arthur Murry Dance Party television program in the early 1950s. She married her second husband, Theodore D. Steinway in 1957. In later life she worked as a stage electrician for several off Broadway theatres including Joseph Papp’s Public Theatre and operated the follow spot for Gretchen Cryer’s “I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road."
She is survived by her sister Laura (James) Kaye of Rensselaer, NY; daughters Tari (Harry) Perlstadt of Haslett, MI, and Tina (Gregory) Husinko of Montgomery, NY and her son Theodore A. Steinway of Denver CO; her grandchildren Emily, Roger, Nicholas, Alexander, Geneva, and Theodore W; her greatgrandchildren Toby, Spencer and Gwen; niece Erin and nephew Timothy.
