Beyond shameful is to describe how self-centered I have been in my grief. Only feeling sorry for myself that, once again, I must bear this pain without my family all around me that helps take a bit of sting out of it. Not once have I mentioned my husband, Mike, who is devestated. I forgot to put his name on the flower card, even.
Mike never had an aunt, uncle or cousin. When he met aunt Kay and Uncle Danny it was as if he were a little boy getting a puppy. The summer We came to NJ we stayed with them for a week, and he was in love.
I want not only to let you know how much Mike loved her, but to correct a terrible behavior on my part. Mike has cried, and continues to, already. I have to wait until the numbness goes away, exactly as I did with my parents.
