Maria Henriquez's Obituary
Maria Henriquez (87) of Union City, NJ passed away on Saturday, April
20, 2019. She was the widow of Julian Garcia (married 1992). She was the
loving mother of Raymundo Torres and Carlos Torres. Maria was the proud
grandmother of Kevin, Sandra, David and Carlos. She is also survived by
her siblings: Gloria, Benedicto, Teresa, Rube and Roque, as well as many
nieces and nephews.
Born in El Salvador, she migrated to the United States in 1980 with her
son, Raymundo. They lived in San Francisco with her sister Rube and
Rube’s family (Raul, Gerson and Edwin), then moved to New York City
before moving to New Jersey. In El Salvador, she was involved in family
businesses, was a local seamstress, and a homemaker. In America, she
spread her love in the child care and home care professions.
Maria was a beautiful, strong, smart woman who loved to spend time with
family and friends. She loved to dance, always had a smile on her face,
and had a great laugh that filled up the room.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 23, from 4 -8 pm at Hennessey
Heights Funeral Home 232 Kipp Avenue, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. Cremation
will be private.
