Robert John Albes' Obituary
Robert John Albes was born Nov. 30, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY, to Arthur John Albes and Mary Fenner (Davis) Albes. He died Aug. 4, 2018 in Rochelle Park, NJ. Rob fought an inspiring battle against mental illness for fifty years and finally succumbed to kidney and heart problems. His body failed, but not his mind. His Christian faith was a source of great comfort to him. Gifted with high intelligence, Rob excelled at math and was proud of his membership in Mensa. He also liked to paint and retained his skills and enjoyment playing the piano throughout his life. Playing and listening to music was always important and necessary to Rob, and he learned to play guitar and harmonica as well. He loved hamburgers, French fries, ice-cream cake, John Lennon and jokes of all kinds. His laughter was infectious and his smile radiated happiness.
Family was the source of Rob’s greatest joy and he inspired great love and devotion from them. He is survived by his mother, Mary Fenner Albes of Saddle Brook, NJ, his brother Michael Arthur Albes and wife Gretchen of Gold Hill, CO, brother James Thomas Albes and wife Gayle of Ho Ho Kus, NJ, and their children and Rob’s niece Elizabeth Gilbert Albes of NYC, and nephew Christopher James Albes of Saddle Brook.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many medical and mental health professionals who took such good care of Robert. He was always grateful for their kindness. Rob had a sweet, beautiful soul and he will be missed, but not forgotten.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alliance Against Homelessness (AAH) which for many years provided Robert an affordable apartment in a home for independent living which Robert enjoyed. Please direct donations to:
