Sandra Jean Meyer's Obituary
On December 1st, 2025, Sandra Jean Meyer, of Milford, PA (nee Pyne), 82, joined her beloved grandmother in paradise. Nana MayMorn introduced her to the Lord at a young age, and throughout her life, Sandy regularly conversed with Him. She is survived by Bob, her loving husband of 62 years, and their children, Bob Jr., Corre, Krisa, and Bart, her granddaughter Emma, and her great-granddaughter, Sophia. A graduate of Hasbrouck Heights High School in 1961, she married shortly thereafter and bore four children in 8 years. Returning to the workforce in 1976, she first drove a school bus for disabled children and then began a rewarding career at HUMC, initially in the credit union and later as a Clerical Coordinator at the Audrey Hepburn Children’s House for abused children. There she thrived and shared the warmth of her heart with everyone she came into contact with, especially the children. A part-time position at Ethan Alan helped develop her interior design skills. I witnessed what I believe was her happiest moment. Daughter Corre, unable to walk since birth, confined to a wheelchair, was prescribed a new medication before attending summer camp. When we picked her up on the final day, with a big smile on her face, Corre got out of her wheelchair and walked on her own. One of her greatest passions involved our dogs. An avowed lover of Labrador Retrievers, we shared our home with a succession of remarkable 4-legged companions. She regarded each one of them as part of the family. Sandy shared our son Bobby's love of rock and roll/pop music. An enthusiastic concertgoer and big-time CD collector, she was captivated by Bruce Springsteen and became an avid fan. An impromptu four-day late-in-life auto trip cross-country with Bart was an event she cherished. She believed strongly in the family as a source of refuge, mutual love, and camaraderie. Her favorite TV show was Blue Bloods, mainly because the Reagan family ate dinner together every Sunday. Each spring, she loved to plant flowers around the house and was a diligent weeder. Finally, after many years of selfless service, Sandy retired in 2022 and moved to the country far away from the department stores she frequented. Sandy was the epitome of a friend to all. There are lots of components of friendship: trust, loyalty, etc., but a Maya Angelou quote provides the most significant explanation of that magic relationship between friends: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Sandy made everyone feel good all the time. She recognized and welcomed the love that her friends and family extended to her, and she always gave it back generously in word and deed. “Sure” was the word she often used when people were in need and asked for help.
A diamond among gems, she was the hub of the wheel that was the Meyer family. While holding down a full-time job, she took charge of the house and made sure no family member was ever in need. Our refrigerator was always full of food that she knew her family enjoyed. She took care of us so reliably and consistently that we sometimes forgot to give her due credit. Now and forever, we’ll realize how indispensable her contribution was. Our loss is devastating, but not without being consoled in our certainty that she is with the Lord. God blessed Sandy, and we who have been part of her exemplary life.
