Theresa Marie Soda's Obituary
Theresa Marie Soda, 76, of Maplewood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home after a period of declining health.
Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Theresa was the youngest child of Joseph Soda and Rose Marie (Pirillo) Soda. She spent much of her life working as a medical transcriptionist, a role she took great pride in. After retiring, she volunteered with the Foster Grandparent Program in Des Moines, giving her time and heart to young children in elementary school — a role she cherished deeply.
Theresa is survived by her son, Aaron Joseph “A.J.” Wolff Edge; her son-in-law, Dr. Daniel K. Edge; and her grandsons, Jackson Wolff Edge and Peyton Wolff Edge. She is also survived by her sister, Rose Ann (Soda) Johansen; her son, Stephen Anthony Wolff II; and her grandson, Nicholas Wolff. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Sam J. Soda; and her former husband, Stephen Anthony Wolff.
Theresa found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She adored spending time with her grandchildren. Recently, she taught Peyton how to bake bread from scratch. She never missed her favorite TV court and law shows, and she loved a good hamburger and French fries. Most of all, her heart melted whenever she heard A.J. sing — a comfort and happiness that stayed with her throughout her life.
She will be remembered for her humor, her resilience, and the love she carried for her family.
In keeping with her wishes, Theresa will be cremated, and no formal services will be held. The family will honor her life privately.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a dedicated memorial donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, honoring Theresa’s love for children and her years of volunteer service.
