William F. Schelling's Obituary
William F. Schelling, on Wednesday August 3, 2011, of Allendale, NJ, formerly of Tenafly, NJ.
Head of the CBS TV Lighting department in New York City, was at CBS for 40 years, a member of Local 1 IATSE International Alliance Theatrical Stage Employees for 63 years. He had the opportunity to travel the world. Bill was responsible for the lighting for political conventions, beauty pageants, sporting events, soap operas and many other significant events. He was a pioneer in the design of the television lighting industry.
A WWII veteran, graduating from RCA engineering school, a member of Archer United Methodist Church and a member of the Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly, NJ for 20 years. It is with great sorrow and dismay that our family loses this wonderfully exceptional and successful man. IE will be forever missed and loved by all of us. He lived his life for his family and to help others, Bill gave to many charities and his fondness was helping animals.
Cherished father of Patricia Schelling Cellary and her husband Christopher, of Allendale, NJ, devoted grandfather to Brian Christopher and Kevin William Cellary, dearest brother of Lucy Schelling Averill and her husband Anton W Zimmermann of Atlanta, GA. Beloved husband of the late Martha Louise Turner Schelling and cherished father to the late William F Schelling, Jr.
