I have a few memories of having spent time with Doña Nury. Most of them being at family gatherings, but there is one that sticks out the most. It was when I was little, my cousin Martha had invited us over for the day. Doña Nury had asked her if we were coming over. We did. Martha was busy with something in the moment and Doña Nury had suggested putting on music. At the time I didn't know how to dance, but that didn't stop us. She showed us the steps patiently. It was like magic, all of us were hooked on the rhythm of the drums, the blaring trumpet. Dancing to the sounds of a time not forgotten. She even had a sombrero volteado. We took turns putting it on and dancing with eachother. It was the most fun I'd ever had dancing. Thank you for the dance lesson.
