Nury Maria Garcia's Obituary
Norwalk, CT- Nury Maria Garcia, 67, of Barranquilla, Colombia, beloved wife of Jorge A. Garcia, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 25, 2022. Nury was born on August 8, 1954, in Barranquilla, Colombia. She was predeceased by her dad Jose Julian Gaviria.
In addition to her husband Jorge, Nury is survived by her mom Maria Sacramento Gomez, of Medellin, Colombia; three sons and four grandchildren; son Henry David Gallo and his wife, Ana, of Stratford, CT, and their children Derek and Kaitlyn Gallo; son John Alexander Gallo and his wife, Martha, of Trumbull, CT, and their children Isabella and Matthew Gallo; son James Cristian Garcia of Norwalk, CT. She is also survived by two sisters; Omaira and Judith Gaviria; five brothers Armando, Julian, Fernando, Elvis, and Rafael Gaviria.
She was born and raised in Colombia. At an early age, Nury took on the responsibility of caring for her siblings and setting the example of what it means to be family. She came to the United States at the age of 30, by herself, looking for a better life for her family. Because of her bravery and courage, she was able to provide that and so much more.
Nury loved all types of music, especially songs she could dance to. She also found enjoyment relaxing and swimming at the beach. Nury had a lifelong love of studying English. Nury also loved playing cards and being at the beach and cooking with her beloved husband, Jorge. Together, they made memories that will last a lifetime.
Known as “Mita Nury” to us all, she will forever be remembered as loving, brave, caring, strong, kind, funny and very protective of her loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
There will be a mass at San Augustine cathedral 399 Washington Ave Bridgeport, CT, Saturday June 4, 2022 at 2:40 PM.
